Description

Join us for the first public workshop of the season! Nibble your way through the garden while harvesting herbs to make wild pesto together!

Event Details

We'll start by gathering for herbal tea and introductions at the patio picnic table. We will then take a walk around the garden focusing on wild edible and medicinal plants that emerge in early spring.

As we nibble our way through the garden, we will be harvesting plants to make a wild pesto together.
There is an abundance of wild edibles in the garden to share with attendees to take home.

Please bring a trowel, hori hori, or other digging tool if you can, and a bag or basket for your harvest. Please also bring a small container for your pesto sample and any snacks you may want to enjoy with it such as crackers, veggies, etc.

Some wild spring edibles we will be focusing on are: chickweed (Stellaria media), bittercress (Cardamine hirsuta), ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea), dandelion (Taraxcum officinale), wild onions (Allium vineale), violet (Viola sororia), and garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata)

Masks and physical distancing are required at all times indoors, and outdoors according to participants' autonomous decisions for their own comfort and health.

Two reduced-price scholarship tickets are available for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color), until maximum attendance is reached.
Email: greenfarmacygarden@gmail.com to claim one!

Note: Dress for the weather and the possibility of insects.

Potted seedlings and divisions are available for donation at all our public events, as well as seeds and printed or recorded publications from Jim and Peggy Duke and others.
