We're baaaaaack!!! The Plan: We will be collecting donations of body wash, toothpaste and toothbrushes from the church for the entire month of March, so in addition to packing lunches we will be sorting the items collected.
Event Details
On March 30th we plan to distribute at least 100 lunches (including 100 sandwiches). On Friday, March 29th we will meet at Reid Temple AME Glenn Dale at 6pm to assemble the sandwiches, prep lunches and sort/pack up the donated toiletries. On Saturday morning we will reconvene at 7am to load up. At 7:30am we will depart and head out to the Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter.

About The Shelter: Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter is a low-barrier emergency shelter for women over the age of 18 who are in urgent need of housing, food or case management. The shelter staff serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to clients Monday through Friday, but the shelter is not open and available to them after 9am on the weekends, forcing them to leave. Our goal is fill that gap by offering lunches, toiletries, prayer, and words of encouragement as the women exit the facility.
Need to know: Volunteers should dress comfortably, jeans, sweats and closed toe shoes. Wear your YAM shirt if you have one! We encourage you to wear t-shirts that offer positive messaging if not. We do not recommend bringing small children under the age of 6 years old, but will leave that to the discretion of the parent. (Please include them in the attendee count).
Transportation will be provided by Reid Temple AME. Pick up and return location is the Glenn Dale parking lot. For your saftey, we encourage you to use the transportation offered.
