Information to help you understand the process & advocate effectively
Parent will receive a detailed description of the IEP document, an explanation of their rights as a parent and advocacy skills to use with the IEP team
*Please plan to bring a copy of your child’s IEP to the workshop

The meaning of each disability code
What an IEP goal should be
What data really looks like
The purpose of a transition plan
Anything else you want to ask about

With degrees in Psychology and Special Education, Heather has worked in the field of Education for her 20-year career. Specializing in Autism, she has been an SEIA, a teacher, the manager of a company providing home and community based services, and an independent Education Consultant. She specialized in Autism before becoming the Education Program Coordinator at Frederick Community College. She has advocated for children and families in many settings and is interested in sharing her passion and skills with parents.
