Join us for an informative talk being given by seasoned, industry professionals from Yakabod, Inc.
If you haven’t heard of Yakabod, they're a leader in secure software development located in beautiful Frederick, MD. Founded in 2001, their products have been ensuring mission success for multiple 3 letter government agencies (Ssshhh….we can’t talk about it!) as well as other non-gov organizations for years. “Do Stuff That Matters” is their mantra.
At this talk & networking event, two of Yakabod’s team leaders will talk about their experiences, best practices, and how they answered some of the challenging questions that confront all product developers over the life of a product.

Talk #1: "Developing Product for the Long Haul: Philosophies, Strategies, and Tech Selection"
John Thorhauer is the Vice President of Software Development at Yakabod. He brings over 20 years of experience as a developer, architect, and leader to the Yakabod team. His programming and leadership background in both the financial and manufacturing industries brings an expertise that is grounded in real world solutions, spurred by an ethos for getting things done. When John steps away from his role as team leader, he usually takes a step towards the woods, hiking until his feet catchup with his thoughts.
Talk #2: "Empowering Users through Experience Design: Users Need to Explore, Fiddle, Tweak and Peek."
Doug Sohn is the Director of User Experience at Yakabod, where he leads the UX team. Together, with a group of talented developers, the UX Team creates rich, usable interfaces for The Yakabox—a secure knowledge management platform. For the past 28 years, he has worked in a variety of disciplines within the field of design, from print design through the desktop revolution to the web. Doug has been on the front lines of evolving technologies, leading efforts in product design, marketing, e-commerce and enterprise software. When not staring at a computer, he is a father, skateboarder, and long-distance hiker.
